This talk explores the widening role of artist Shane Record in his quest not only to paint paintings that change peoples’ perception about where they live but also to reach out to members of community and beyond by inspiring them with the process.
As testimony to this, he paints a 120cm x 90cm painting during the 18 minute talk which was subsequently auctioned for a local Art Therapy and Counselling Charity raising £500 – further demonstrating that art can have a direct, positive impact on its surroundings. Shane Record is a self-taught, professional artist and has run his own Studio Gallery in The Old High Street, Folkestone since 2005. Shane also visits schools, art societies and gives public demonstrations producing large scale works in short periods of time, further engaging people with the process of painting This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
